Today’s Booking Through Thursday question is:
Autumn is starting (here in the US, anyway), and kids are heading back to school–does the changing season change your reading habits? Less time? More? Are you just in the mood for different kinds of books than you were over the summer?
The seasons themselves do not particularly affect my reading habits. I think I have said before that my reading interests tend to cycle, and this does not necessarily follow the seasons.
Since I am not in school nor do I have children, I am not as affected by the back-to-school madness as some people. However, this fall I am in a show that just started rehearsals, and I sing in a choir that started up again in late August, so in fact I have become busier recently and am not reading as much. It probably doesn’t help that I’m currently reading a pretty heavy book that is harder to get in to when reading in short snatches, so if I pick up some light fiction next I may end up reading more.
As an aside, I really was not ready for fall – it came too soon and the shift in weather was too sudden for my liking (I am living in a new place this fall, one which has more distinct seasons than my previous residences).
